8th edition of HRANI Conclave held in Ghaziabad

HRANI organises 8th Conclave

HRANI’s 8th conclave, held recently at Shangri-La-Eros New Delhi focuses on Sustainable & Responsible Tourism, Technology and Open Network Digital Commerce. The Conclave was graced by Sh. Satish Upadhyay, Vice Chairperson, NDMC as Chief Guest. Ms. Inoshi Sharma, Executive Director, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and Sh. Rajendra Kumar Suman, Regional Director – North, India Tourism, New Delhi were Guests of Honour. The conclave was attended by various dignitaries from the Government, Members of the Managing Committee of HRANI including key decision makers from the Hospitality sector and Media.

HRANI to work on Sustainable Tourism

After holding the 8th HRANI Conclave on Sustainable Tourism and taking the agenda further, the Managing Committee of HRANI in its meeting held right after the Conclave formed a Sub Committee on " Sustainable Tourism " which will contribute and work on the same.

Mr. Garish Oberoi, President, HRANI informed that the objective of this Committee will be to make strategies to promote adoption of sustainable tourism practices amongst the Hospitality and tourism sector including guests and take collective responsibility to ensure that destinations and communities are being supported and protected now and for future generations.

The HRANI Sub -Committee on Sustainable Tourism will work under the Guidance of Sh Rakesh Mathur, President of Responsible Tourism Society of India (RTSOI) as Special Invitee. Mr. Mathur is a Hospitality Industry professional with over forty five years of leadership experience in highly-acclaimed Indian and Global hotel groups. He was the first CEO, BASS (now IHG) Hotels & Resorts, South & West Asia and later President of ITC WelcomeHeritage Hotels, where he pioneered the Heritage and Circuit Tourism movement in India, before retirement in 2011.

This Committee will be led by Ms Ankita Jaiswal, Director, Ramada Plaza Lucknow Hotel & Convention Centre and Founder, Brio Art House OPC Private Limited. She is also Chairperson for Uttar Pradesh Art & Craft Committee.

The other members include Mrs Meena Bhatia, MC Member, HRANI & General Manager; Le Meridien, New Delhi; Ms. Ayu Tripathi, Director, Aahana The Corbett Wilderness, Ramnagar. The President and Hony Secretary of HRANI will be ex-officio members to this Committee.

"During the 8th HRANI Conclave, the Guest of Honour, Ms Inoshi Sharma, Executive Director, Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) appreciated the initiatives taken by the hotel industry in promoting millets, Ms Sharma urged the hoteliers to incorporate at least one millet item into them to incorporate at least one millet item into their buffet menu on a permanent basis. The ED also spoke about the new and simplified FSSAI licence renewal system. She said that although it is an annual exercise, the new online licence renewal system is pre-filled and in case there are no changes required in the details embedded, the enterprises can just pay the fee within minutes and complete the renewal formality. She also advocated the hoteliers to adopt ‘Hygiene Rating’ for their properties which will create confidence in the consumers."

"Addressing the 8th Conclave organised by the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Northern India, Sh. Satish Upadhyay, Vice-Chairman of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) said that the council is considering various measures to ensure ease of doing business to the hospitality sector in the city. Offering all kinds of support to the hospitality industry in the Lutyens’ zone the NDMC vice-chairman said that the council is ready to work with the hospitality industry in the city to remove all the regulatory bottlenecks that are impeding the ease of doing business of the businesses in its jurisdiction. He was addressing the hotel and restaurant industry representatives at the 8th HRANI Conclave."
