GST Council in its 37th meeting approved proposal to cut rates on hotel tariffs. The Council approved cutting rate on rooms with tariff as under:

S.No Approved slab and GST Quantum Earlier Rate & Slab
1 Rs 7,500 & above 18% 28 %
2 Rs 1000 to 7500 12% 18 %
Rs 2500 – 7500
3 Rs 1000 and below Nil Nil
4 The GST on outdoor catering services other than in premises having daily tariff of unit of accommodation of Rs 7501 from present 18% with ITC to 5% without ITC. The rate shall be mandatory for all kinds of catering. Catering in premises with daily tariff of unit of accommodation is Rs 7501 and above shall remain at 18% with ITC.

I am happy to share with you that HRANI has always put in all efforts and represented for one tax of 12 percent with full ITC. Various representations through meetings were sent to the Ministry of Finance & Tourism, Govt of India including the Chief Minister & Finance Ministers of nine states of Northern India.

The association under the able leadership and guidance of President Mr. Surendra Kumar Jaiswal and all Members of Managing Committee will continue to represent and convince the Hon’ble Finance Minister and Members of GST council including the Chief Minister & Finance Minister of nine states for further rationalization to one tax regime for hotel rooms, banquets and also re-introduction of input tax credit for Restaurants.
